Using Mail Online

Information on StudyLink Mail Online service.

Mail Online

This service displays most of your Student Loan, Student Allowance and scholarship letters. You will need to sign up to view your mail and agree to the Terms and Conditions of this online service.

Not all letters are available to read online. Loan contracts that require a signature, scholarship agreements and some non-automated letters are still required to be sent to you by paper mail (post).

To sign up to receive your mail online, update the letter online field to 'Yes'.  When you select ‘Yes’ a 'Notification Options’ section will become available and you need to select your preferred method of notification.

The ‘Continue’ button will save any changes you have made and then take you to the ‘View Letters’ page, where you can view your letters.

The ‘Cancel’ button will ignore any changes you make and return you to the MyStudyLink home page.

You will also be able to see a history of the correspondence sent to you by post but you are not able to view these letters. You can only view the letters that have been sent to you after you have signed up to view your mail online.

Notification Options

We will send you a notification when you have new mail or Student Loan Contracts to view. You can choose whether you would like to receive this notification by email or text.

When you select ‘Yes' to receive your letters and/or contract online, a ‘Notification Options' section will appear and you need to select your preferred channel.

Mail and Contracts Online will display the most recent email address or mobile number that you have given us.

The notification channel is a mandatory field.

Mobile numbers should contain a minimum of 9 digits and a maximum of 13 digits.
The email address format must be ‘xx@x.xx'

The ‘Continue' button will save any changes you have made and then take you to the ‘Contracts Online' page, where you can see if you have a contract waiting to be accepted.

View Letters

You can alter the way in which mail items are ordered by changing the ‘Sort by’ drop list.

If there is an attachment that is sent with a letter, like a form to complete, this will be listed in a separate row so that each can be viewed independently, however these will be grouped together.

Where letters are able to be viewed online, the letter description will be displayed as a hyperlink, for example:

Important information about your Student Allowance

Bold text indicates that the letter has not yet been viewed.

The ‘Status’ column contains an envelope icon to indicate if:

  • The letter is unread  (Icon with star)
  • The letter has been read (Icon without star)

If the ‘Back’ button on the ‘View PDF’ page is not used, then the status of your letters in the ‘View Letters’ page will not be updated.

Post to Me

If you have received a form that is required to be completed, you can print it directly from Mail Online or you can request the form to be posted to you by using the ‘Post to Me’ button.

Before using ‘Post to Me’ check your address details are correct. You can do this in the contact details section.

If you choose ‘Post to Me’ once the letter has been generated this will show on a new line, with the letter posted date. The content will still contain all the information from the original letter, including any dates.

If you received a course-related costs form, rather than posting this to us, the easiest way to apply is online in the Apply Online section.

For more information on what is required when providing evidence to us, refer to the 'Evidence Requirements' help page.

Letter Posted

This field shows you the date the letter was posted as paper mail; you are not able to view these letters online.

Change Mail Options

This button returns you to the ‘Mail and Contract Options' screen, so you can change how you receive your mail/contract or change your notification channel.

The ‘Continue' button will be replaced by a ‘Submit' button. Once you ‘Submit', any changes you've made will be saved and updated.
